• As always, arrive 30 min early to get a seat. These are actual performances and not dress rehearsals so there will be an audience.

Mélange: concoction, mixture, combination. In this new series of performances, audiences will experience art coming to life in front of their eyes in an intimate theatrical setting. Each series will feature a musician (a vocalist or instrumentalist), a dancer (from Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre), and a visual artist. Together they will create art at The Florence (Carmel’s newest black-box theatre space), in a collaborative and organic manner. The musician will present a set of music, while the dancer creates choreography inspired by the music, and the visual artist creates art inspired by the movement of the dancer and the music of the musician. Audiences will experience live art in a new manner, bringing groundbreaking and creative art to Central Indiana.

Please plan on arriving around 5:45 PM to set up for this dress rehearsal shoot

We just got word this is NOT a dress rehearsal. Not a good opportunity to get photos that Gregory can use, but you are welcome view the performance if you want to check out lighting and scenes you want to photograph. Please plan on arriving around 10:30 AM

Student dancers will not be at this rehearsal.

A note from Gregory:

Photographers - I hope you will join us for the opening of our season. We will have our final dress rehearsal on Thursday, October 24 at 6:30 at The Tarkington. The performance features the premiere of BEYOND THESE GATES THE LAND GROANS, plus THE VISIT and THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS. We also have a dress rehearsal on Wednesday, October 23 at 6:30 if you want to watch without your camera to get an idea of what you would like to capture on Thursday.

Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre closes their 2023-2024 performance season with SAGAS AND SUPERSTITIONS at The Tarkington.

Known for their masterful global storytelling, Executive Artistic Director and Choreographer Gregory Hancock and the artistic dancers of GHDT will bring to the stage two world premieres this June.  SUPERSTITIONS, a new work in the creative process will draw its inspiration from the stories and superstitions of the Roma and other Eastern European cultures resulting in a vibrant celebration.

In addition, a to-be-announced new work will close the final concert of GHDT’s 26th season.  Through brilliant theatrical dance, vibrant costumes and beautiful cultural music, GHDT will continue to transport audiences through meaningful and heartfelt storytelling experiences.

GHDT brings the American Old West into the black-box cabaret setting for a fun theatrical experience giving a nod to the Western movies of old Hollywood.  Complete with cowboys, gunslingers, bandits, townsfolk, lawmen and saloon girls, this interactive performance will feature renowned music from popular TV and movie Westerns with costumes of yesteryear.

“An audience favorite, LA LLORONA, is a work derived from a Mexican legend about love and spirits. It will captivate the audience through imagination and layers of theatrical nuance. A new work, ANGELS AND DJINN, will use Turkish classical and folk music, stunning costumes, movement and lighting to help tell these meaningful stories which will engage audiences and make deep emotional connections. TICKETS ON SALE September 11th”

The DRESS REHEARSAL for The Music of LA CASA AZUL is Friday, August 4 at 7:00 pm. This is a "Concert Version" of LA CASA AZUL featuring the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, 20 vocalists, the dancers of GHDT and Bibi Heredia as the emcee of the evening. It is a ONE NIGHT ONLY performance. If you would like to photograph, we need a list of names to leave at the Security Desk. I want to personally ask you to please try to attend the actual performance on August 5. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me, I am the composer of all the music in the production, and I have also created the choreography. I would really love for you to be there for the performance on Saturday!

The G2 dancers will have their dress rehearsal on Wednesday, May 3 and we are invited to shoot. This is in addition to our normal Thursday meeting.

The live performance dates are May 5 and 6 at 7:00 PM. There is also a performance at 3:00 PM on May 7.
